Marion Township Schools
Marion Township was formed February 27, 1843. Originally there were 10 common schools: Fairview, Slate (Keith, Miller's corner, McIntosh), Lower Cana, Upper Cana, Barnes, Mosely, Hopkins, Staples and Center. These consolidated over time creating different schools including: Mt. Zion, Gum Lick, and Hughes. The Marion Township High School began in 1913-14 at the Mosely School, with a new building available 1915-16. Between 1939-41 high schools students attended Crothersville until their enrollment could begin at Paris Crossing High School with the 1940-41 school year, then to North Vernon in 1961. Grade school continued until 1969, when the new Graham Creek Elementary School began.
